As Walt Disney talked his artists through the story of Pinocchio, he played each of the characters. Here he acts out the scene in which the little puppet sinks to the bottom of the sea, 1939.
He truly loved his work. I wish we had that kind of motivation in people today.
But guys, look at how high is pants are!! it’s the cutest and silliest thing I’ve ever seen!
He couldn’t ever describe properly what it was he envisioned for a piece they were working on. He’d tell his animators something cryptic that only he truly understood, and they’d work endlessly trying to get it right for him. If he could see they just didn’t understand, he’d call a meeting and spend hours acting out the entire movie or cartoon right there in front of them, using actions and sounds to convey what he couldn’t put into words. Its like his words could never pay justice to what he saw in his head, so instead of just describing a character or scene, he became the character or scene. He felt the character’s emotions and heard it’s thoughts.
What would it be like to peek inside a mind like his? He will always be such a mystery…
